In brief
MS Nieuw Statendam is a Pinnacle-class cruise ship operated by Holland America Line (HAL), a division of Carnival Corporation & plc. Her name, Nieuw Statendam, alludes to the five previous ships in HAL's fleet named Statendam. She is the second of three Pinnacle-class ships built by Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri after Koningsdam (2016) and before Rotterdam (2021). Two years after the first steel was cut in July 2016 to commence construction, she was delivered to HAL in November 2018 and began operating the following month.

In context
Every figure in this section is a count, a rank or a percentile over vessels actually held in this registry — not over the world fleet, which is larger. Nothing here is estimated.
At 99,500 gross tons, MS Nieuw Statendam is the 3,326th largest of the 84,014 vessels in this registry that report a tonnage. The median across that set is 5,994 GT, so this hull is about 17 times the typical vessel on record here. The largest measures 499,167 GT.
Among the 665 cruise ships held here, it ranks 117th by tonnage — larger than 77% of that group. Their median tonnage is 43,009 GT, and the largest tenth begin at 143,289 GT. The flag most often flown by this group is The Bahamas (133 ships). The yard that appears most often against it is Fincantieri, with 112 hulls on record.
Netherlands is the country of registry for 1,546 vessels in this directory, of which MS Nieuw Statendam is the 20th largest by tonnage. The most common class under that flag is vessels this registry holds no type classification for (839 ships), and the median vessel measures 2,810 GT. Browse every ship flagged Netherlands.
Narrowing to both dimensions at once, this registry holds 22 cruise ships flying the Netherlands flag, of which 1 is larger by tonnage.
MS Nieuw Statendam was built in 2018, making it 8 years old. It is one of 1,246 hulls in this registry delivered that year, a cohort whose median tonnage is 18,960 GT; within it this ship is the 184th largest. Across the whole of the 2010s the registry holds 20,111 vessels, median 23,456 GT. The median build year across the entire registry is 1995.
The registry attributes 226 vessels to Fincantieri, with a median tonnage of 54,655 GT, delivered between 1935 and 2026. See the rest of that yard’s output.
At 299.5 m overall, MS Nieuw Statendam is 101.4 m longer than the 198.1 m median for cruise ships on record, with a beam of 35.0 m and a draft of 8.0 m.
IMO numbers are issued in broadly chronological blocks. Within 500 either side of 9767106 this registry holds 20 other vessels, whose median build year is 2016 and which range from 2016 to 2018. That places this hull’s registration in the same part of the series, consistent with its recorded build year of 2018.
Its IMO number, 9767106, carries its own check digit. The first six digits are weighted seven down to two and summed — 9×7 + 7×6 + 6×5 + 7×4 + 1×3 + 0×2 = 166 — and the last digit of that total, 6, must equal the seventh digit, 6. It does, so this number is well formed.
