In brief
Maersk Mc-Kinney Moller (Danish: [ˈmɛɐ̯sk məˈkʰini ˈmølˀɐ]) is the first ship of Maersk Line's Triple E class of container vessels. At the time of its entry into service in 2013, it had the largest cargo capacity in twenty-foot equivalent unit (TEU) of any vessel, and was the longest container ship in service worldwide. Constructed for Maersk by Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME) of South Korea, it was launched in February 2013 and began operational service during July 2013. It was named for Arnold Mærsk Mc-Kinney Møller, the CEO of Maersk from 1965 to 1993. The ship is the first of a class of 20 identical vessels.

In context
Every figure in this section is a count, a rank or a percentile over vessels actually held in this registry — not over the world fleet, which is larger. Nothing here is estimated.
At 194,849 gross tons, Mærsk Mc-Kinney Møller is the 222nd largest of the 84,014 vessels in this registry that report a tonnage. The median across that set is 5,994 GT, so this hull is about 33 times the typical vessel on record here. The largest measures 499,167 GT.
Among the 3,881 container ships held here, it ranks 104th by tonnage — larger than 97% of that group. Their median tonnage is 33,698 GT, and the largest tenth begin at 140,096 GT. The flag most often flown by this group is Liberia (498 ships). The yard that appears most often against it is HD Hyundai Heavy Industries, with 348 hulls on record.
Denmark is the country of registry for 849 vessels in this directory, of which Mærsk Mc-Kinney Møller is the 11th largest by tonnage. The most common class under that flag is vessels this registry holds no type classification for (495 ships), and the median vessel measures 4,678 GT. Browse every ship flagged Denmark.
Narrowing to both dimensions at once, this registry holds 101 container ships flying the Denmark flag, of which 8 are larger by tonnage.
Mærsk Mc-Kinney Møller was built in 2013, making it 13 years old. It is one of 2,213 hulls in this registry delivered that year, a cohort whose median tonnage is 22,566 GT; within it this ship is the 11th largest. Across the whole of the 2010s the registry holds 20,111 vessels, median 23,456 GT. The median build year across the entire registry is 1995.
The registry attributes 1,090 vessels to Hanwha Ocean, with a median tonnage of 84,214 GT, delivered between 1982 and 2025. See the rest of that yard’s output.
At 399.0 m overall, Mærsk Mc-Kinney Møller is 177.4 m longer than the 221.6 m median for container ships on record, with a beam of 59.0 m and a draft of 16.0 m.
IMO numbers are issued in broadly chronological blocks. Within 500 either side of 9619907 this registry holds 61 other vessels, whose median build year is 2012 and which range from 2010 to 2017. That places this hull’s registration in the same part of the series, consistent with its recorded build year of 2013.
Its IMO number, 9619907, carries its own check digit. The first six digits are weighted seven down to two and summed — 9×7 + 6×6 + 1×5 + 9×4 + 9×3 + 0×2 = 167 — and the last digit of that total, 7, must equal the seventh digit, 7. It does, so this number is well formed.
