In brief
Global Marine Group (GMG) is a British company specializing in the installation, maintenance and repair of submarine communications cables. The company is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Singaporean conglomerate Keppel Corporation.
Global Marine Group originated from various earlier firms, including the Eastern Telegraph Company, Cable & Wireless (Marine), the General Post Office and BT Marine. Following a series of mergers in the mid 1990s, and the subsequent acquisition of Cable & Wireless (Marine) by Global Crossing in 1999, Global Marine Systems was set up to carry out cable laying and maintenance operations with its own fleet of cable ships and specialised subsea equipment. The company now operates a fleet of seven cable ships.
The CEO of Global Marine Group is Simon Hibberd.

In context
Counts over companies and vessels actually held in this directory — not over the world fleet, which is larger. Nothing here is estimated.
With 1 vessels attributed to it here, Global Marine Systems is the 492nd largest of the 965 operators in this directory that hold at least one ship on record, against a median of 2 across that group. That is a count of individually identified hulls, not the company’s published fleet size — the two are different measurements and both are shown above where available.
Founded in 1999, Global Marine Systems is 27 years old. This directory holds 147 operators founded within five years either side of that date, whose median fleet on record is 1 ships. The median founding year across all commercial operators here is 1966, and the oldest on record dates to 1514.
